Christmas truce...or not

Greetings everyone,

I hope you had a great Christmas day! Thanks to all the backers and everyone who's been spreading the word, you're awesome!

But it's not over. Now, we're now heading towards cool stretch goals and add-ons. So let other gamers know about First Contact campaign, start a game session with the free quick start, it's up to you. You have still more than ten days to get more free nifty informations, scenarios and extended rules.

Now, as it's Christmas time, we offer here the moving testimony of a child, about aliens and her new life in an army base.

My Family, by Emily Danvers, Aged 9 ¾

My name is Emily and I came to live here when Mummy joined the defence.

I didn’t like the army place very much when we came. There were not many other children and I had no one to play with. But then the school started and there are more children now. My best friend is Sarah Lucas and she is ten years old. Her hair is nice.

Mummy and Daddy used to argue before we came here. Daddy didn’t want to come, but mummy used to be in the army so they wanted her to help fight the aliens. Daddy didn’t want her to go. I didn’t want her to go either. But she said she had to. I think Daddy cried and I was very sad.

The army base is very big, and we live just on the edge of it. Mummy is very busy but daddy looks after me. The new house is smaller than our old one but I could pick the colour for my bedroom and I chose yellow. From my window you can see the aeroplanes taking off. They are very fast and make a loud whooshing sound that makes the pictures shake.

I don’t like the aliens. They are bad. Sarah says they smashed her house which is why her daddy came here to fight them. Sarah doesn’t have a mummy anymore; she died when the aliens came. Lots of the other children don’t have a mummy or a daddy. I think the aliens are bad for doing that. They must know it is bad, but they keep on doing it. I hope all their mummies and daddies get hurt too so they will know what it is like.

Mummy is away a lot but when she comes home I always get kisses and hugs. Daddy gets angry sometimes that she is away so much. But I tell him that if she saves other mummies and daddies from the aliens she is doing something special. But I’m still very scared every time she goes away, and I get bad dreams. I hope my Mummy will be safe.

Funded for Christmas!

Greetings everyone,

What a great early Christmas present you offered us! Thank you to everyone backing from the FCX team here!

Please keep pledging to unlock cool stretch goals! And help us get more recruits to join Global Defence. The Earth needs you!

Merry Christmas!

For Christmas, we decided to offer you some safety rules to follow...

In Case of Alien Attack

This area, being close to one of the ‘Dark Zones’ is considered to be under high risk of alien attack. So, all residents are urged to find shelter with family or friends in other cities while the emergency situation lasts. However, the government has no current plans for a full evacuation. The government is doing all it can to ensure public safety, but it is up to everyone to do their part. By following these simple rules you should ensure the safety of both you and your family.

In the event of an Alien Incursion:

DO find shelter as quickly as possible. Take the same precautions as you would for an earthquake. Find a secure area, preferably a basement with solid support. Remember to help others who are in need of shelter if you have room.

DON’T watch the aliens. The Chandra are exceptionally dangerous and should not be approached for any reason.

DO inform the authorities of the attack. Word may not have got through and Global Defence needs as much information as possible to plan their assault. Call the Chandra hotline as quickly as you can. Otherwise, remember that the communications networks may become easily overloaded so do not make any casual calls.

DON’T record the Chandra attack with a camera or mobile phone. Such footage may be useful but places the public in extreme danger.

DO make sure your safe area has food and especially water to last a few days. Some Chandra attacks will collapse buildings and trap occupants. At other times an attack may last more than a day. Supplies will be vital at this time.

DON’T leave your shelter unless you are ordered to by Global Defence operatives or the attack is clearly over. Quite often a lack of Aerial bombardment does not mean an end to the attack but that the Chandra have landed ground forces. Be sure before leaving your secure area!

DO comply quickly and without argument with any and all orders given to you by Global Defence operatives. Your safety and fast evacuation will be the operatives’ top priority. Make their job easier by following their instructions without question.

Remember: stay safe, stay secure and comply with Global Defence instructions. Alien attacks are rare and usually quickly resolved.

Do your part to help the Global Defence forces against the enemy menace.
